primp. University is our associates program designed to bridge the gap between beauty school and becoming a confident, successful stylist behind the chair.
Built for recent cosmetology graduates, the program gives you the hands-on training and real-world mentorship that school simply can’t provide. You’ll work alongside primp.’s experienced stylists, develop your technical skills, learn the business of beauty, and prepare to transition into your own stylist position — right here at primp.

Questions
primp. University is a 40-week program — but your timeline is ultimately driven by you. Associates who excel and demonstrate advanced skill and professionalism have the ability to complete the program ahead of schedule. The 40 weeks is a framework, not a ceiling.
primp. associates are paid hourly at $12 an hour. Associates will also receive commission on clients that they take as well as daily tips from the stylist they work with.
Associates typically work 20–25 hours per week.
Each primp. associate is paired with one of our licensed stylists, who personally interviews and selects their associate. You’ll work closely with that stylist day to day — assisting them, learning their process, and growing under their direct mentorship. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn from the broader primp. team, giving you exposure to a range of specialties including color, cuts, extensions, and natural hair. And throughout the entire program, Maggie, our Head of Education, is there to support your development every step of the way.
Every day as a primp. associate looks a little different, and that’s intentional. You can expect to assist stylists during services, perform blowouts and styling, support the guest experience from start to finish, learn product knowledge and retail, and gradually take on more technical responsibilities as your skills grow.
As you progress through the program and build your skills, you’ll have opportunities to work with guests under the guidance of your mentor stylist. The goal is to have you fully ready and confident to take your own clients by the time you complete the program.
Our goal with primp. University is to grow the next generation of primp. stylists. Associates who complete the program and demonstrate the skills, professionalism, and passion we look for are considered for stylist positions on our team.
Yes. primp. University is designed for newly licensed cosmetologists. You must have your NC cosmetology license or be in cosmetology school to be considered for the program.
