Michael Proal

Michael is a stylist at primp. with over 15 years of experience and a creative background that bridges fashion and hair. A native New Yorker, Michael made Charlotte his home eight years ago, bringing with him a strong aesthetic sensibility shaped by his early career as a junior lingerie designer in Manhattan.

Licensed as a stylist since 2009, Michael has spent the past 15 years refining his craft while working under and alongside some of Redken’s most respected educators, including Lauren Hagen, Chris Baran, and Danny Feldstead. This experience has given him a well-rounded, technically sound approach to hairdressing with an emphasis on polish, balance, and finish.

Michael excels across all aspects of hairstyling and is known for creating results that feel confident, modern, and wearable. Clients appreciate his direct communication style, quick wit, and ability to make them feel comfortable and relaxed in his chair. He takes the greatest pride in seeing the finished look come together—and in the smiles of his guests at the end of every appointment.

Outside of the salon, Michael is an avid shoe collector with an eclectic sense of style and a proud cat dad to four rescue cats: Ruby, Angel, Punkin, and Ethel. His blend of technical skill, fashion-forward perspective, and genuine personality makes him a standout member of the primp. team.
